Your teeth are firmly anchored to your jaw bones by gum tissue. However, medical conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes and lifestyle habits like improper oral hygiene, over exposure to sugary and acidic drinks, smoking are some factors that can weaken the gums and supporting bone, causing your teeth to be weakened over time. Accidents or a tumor can also cause teeth to become loose.
You may also experience pain or discomfort when eating and/or red and swollen gums which are common symptoms that may be a result of periodontal (gum) disease and loose teeth. Depending on your condition, the situation may be acute, temporary and reversible, chronic or manageable. Treatment depends on the extent of damage and the factors that led to loose teeth.
