Today, two types of clear aligner options are available in the market.
In-office aligners like Invisalign, ClearCorrect, SureSmile, FMS SmartALIGN etc. are well-known options in India. These in-office aligners are always the best bet because all critical steps from the planning to follow up are done in the respective clinics by the in-house orthodontist. At-home aligners, also called direct-to-consumer aligners, may be cheaper than some in-office aligners. The picture says it all. However, not every clinical situation can be treated with aligners. The senior orthodontists team at FMS has evolved with Hybrid orthodontic treatments, where a combination of regular braces and aligners are used. We are now using clear aligners for children also for interceptive orthodontics.

IS CLEAR ALIGNER TREATMENT RIGHT FOR ME?

In-office clear aligners like FMS SmartAlign can treat a variety of clinical conditions, like:

Crowded teeth — when the teeth overlap

Overbites — when the upper front teeth overlap with the lower front teeth

Underbites — when the lower front teeth overlap with the upper front teeth

Diastema — when there are small or large gaps between the teeth

Open bites — when the front upper and lower teeth slant outward and do not touch when the mouth is shut. This is a very rare type of malocclusion.

Misaligned primary (baby) teeth — clear aligners can be used during phase I orthodontic treatment to make room for existing baby teeth and developing permanent teeth. Children between 6 and 10 years of age are candidates for this treatment.

Our Orthodontist and cosmetic dentists work together. Planning is a key in the success of any dental treatment. 5) Insertion of aligners by the orthodontist

The orthodontist will insert and check for the fit of the aligners after which he will train the patient how to wear the aligners. Also, the orthodontist will instruct the patient when to change to the next set of aligners.

A remote or in-clinic follow-up will be done regularly. Once the treatment is completed, the orthodontist will reassess the occlusion and may advise for a set of refinement aligners. At this point, a TMD specialist may also be involved to check the condition of your jaw joint.
