PERIODONTITIS, more commonly known as the gum disease or pyorrhea is caused by plaque and tartar that accumulates between the teeth and the gums.\u00a0 It affects the periodontium, the tissue holding the teeth in its place, in such a way that very few people are aware of the progress of the disease, because of which it is also referred to as a SILENT KILLER..!!!<\/p>\n

This disease affects the teeth in such a way that, you will only realize when the teeth become mobile or in a state where it cannot be saved. To start with you might have little bit bleeding while brushing or red swollen gums. If it\u2019s treated at this stage health of the gums can be regained totally. As the disease progresses, the possibility of saving the tooth starts decreasing. Infact, the earlier the treatment better is the result.<\/p>\n

  1. GINGIVITIS: Gingivitis or inflammation of the gums causes the gums to become red and swollen due to which they bleed either spontaneously or on the slightest of provocation.         • Bad breath<\/li>\n
        • Constant metallic taste in the mouth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

          1. Bone loss: Infection by bacteria caused due to periodontitis leads of demineralization of the jaw bone due to which support for the teeth is lost, eventually leading to their shedding.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            1. Difficulty in wearing dentures: Inadequate bone support causes difficulty in fabrication and wearing dentures.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
